Matthew 4
Come, Follow Me

"Come Follow Me"
Matthew 4:12-25

Verse 12, “When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.”

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18,19

“But He walked right through the crowd and went on His way.” Luke 4:30

Verse 13, “Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali.”

Verses 14-16, “…to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah (9:1,2): ‘Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”

"I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness." – John 12:46
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves." - Colossians 1:13

Verse 17, "From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

"Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." – Luke 24:45-47

Verses 18-20, "As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.' At once they left their nets and followed him."

Verses 21-23, "Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people."

Jesus' Ministry had 3 Parts:
* Teaching
* Proclaiming
* Healing

Verses 24-25, "News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him."
