Ephesians 4:3
Unity: One Spirit

UNITY: ONE SPIRIT

The Unity of the Spirit is Real, Tangible, and Measurable

Ephesians 4:3, “Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.

“Cords” that bind us Together:

  • a Common Community – “one Body”
  • a Common Communion – “one Spirit”

Acts 2:42'37 CEV, "They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to eah other. They also broke bread and prayed together. Everyone was amazed by the many miracles and wonders that the apostles worked. All the Lord's followers often met together, and they shared everything they had. They would sell their property and possessions and give the money to whoever was in need. Day after day they met together in the temple. They broke bread together in different homes and shared their food happily and freely, while praising God. Everyone liked them, and each day the Lord added to their group others who were being saved."

Common Communion:

1. Doctrine -       Teaching: The gospel taught & preached

2. Communion - Breaking: The Lords Supper observed

3. Fellowship -    Social: Spiritual relationships made

4. Prayers -         Worship: Prayers to God given

Unity of the Spirit will produce Fear of the Lord

Matthew 10:28 CEV, “Don't be afraid of people. They can kill you, but they cannot harm your soul. Instead, you should fear God who can destroy both your body and your soul in hell.”

Luke 12:5 CEV, “God is the one you must fear. Not only can he take your life, but he can throw you into hell. God is certainly the one you should fear!”

2 Corinthians 7:1 NKJV, Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

Ephesians 5:21 NKJV"Submit yourselves to one another in the fear of God.

How God works on Sin in the church:

1. External Pressure – God moves supernaturally to expose sin and believers turn from sin due to fear of God.
2. Internal Submission – Believers cease sinning because of their fear toward God.

Unity of the Spirit will produce signs & wonders.

Mark 16:15 CEV, “Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world. Anyone who believes me and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe me will be condemned. Everyone who believes me will be able to do wonderful things. By using my name they will force out demons, and they will speak new languages. They will handle snakes and will drink poison and not be hurt. They will also heal sick people by placing their hands on them.”

Unity of the Sprit will produce sharing of all things.

Acts 2:44-45 CEV, “All the Lord's followers often met together, and they shared everything they had. They would sell their property and possessions and give the money to whoever was in need.”
