Matthew's genelogy of Jesus shows:

  • Jesus Christ is the King
  • The Faithfulness of God
  • God Kept His Promises
  • The very Nature of the Kingdom

Acts 17:26 “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.”

“Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Am-min-a-dab, Am-min-a-dab the father of Nah-shon, Nah-shon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David.”

David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife, Solomon the father of Re-ho-boam, Re-ho-boam the father of Abi-jah, Abi-jah the father of A-sa, A-sa the father of Je-hosh-aphat, Je-hosh-aphat the father of Je-horam, Je-horam the father of Uzziah, Uzziah the father of Jo-tham, Jo-tham the father of A-haz, A-haz the father of Hezekiah, Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah, and Josiah the father of Jec-on-iah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.

Jec-on-iah was the father of She-al-tiel, She-al-tiel the father of Zerub-babel, Zerub-babel the father of Abi-hud, Abi-hud the father of Elia-kim, Elia-kim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Eli-hud, Eli-hud the father of El-ea-zar, El-ea-zar the father of Matt-han, Matt-han the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus Who is called the Messiah.

Thus, there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.”
